There's nothing quite like watching a mother holding her newborn daughter after nine months of wondering. Wondering if it's a boy or girl, when they would come and what they would look like. Or, watching a brother tentatively interact with his new baby sister. Cautious of her size and not yet understanding what all this fully means for him. A first family picture of this family of now four. These are amazing moments and I'm honored to capture them.
With the beginning of each year I always find myself reflecting on where I'm at and where I want to go, both personally and professionally. For a long time now, I've been wanting to focus my work around capturing human connections, in a photo-journalistic style. It's not that I haven't been doing that on some level already (actually the name Unveiling Photography comes from the idea of uncovering or revealing the connection of the people in the photograph) but I want to really start pushing myself to be more focused about it. So, I've created a whole new site with images that reflect where I'm headed. I'm excited to use new techniques I've learned through a newer movement in photography called Beloved. The Beloved techniques give me a way to get my clients to interact with each other that is very meaningful and fun.
I've also decided to focus my photography to weddings, engagements, senior high school pictures, and newborns. However, I will be offering a couple days a year where I will do mini family sessions. But more info to come about those later.
So, here's to a new year and to making meaningful images.
